I am going to every so often share my sketchbook pages from the week starting with this past week. I have to do it in two posts because I am not as tech savvy as the rest of you. Enjoy. Hope you are having a nice Sunday. Here, it is the perfect fall day.

A few sketches from today. How I love the simultaneous strenth and sensitivity of a line.

I am constantly feeling that my characters need a sense of space. Is a line or a prop enough. They are so easily overwhelmed/ overshadowed. I am thinking a slight shift in color may help. I am sure they like to sit under trees, go for walks in the woods, watch the birds, sit at the kitchen table, curl up in a chair. As I think about it I see them everywhere. Perhaps there wherabouts will slowly reveal itself to me. If you have any thoughts I would love to hear them.

Dragonfly by August.

I found a beautiful and very large dragonfly in the supermarket parking lot. It caught my eye as a car raced past and made it roll around on the pavement. I brought it home so the kids could admire its beauty up close and then I tucked it under some flowers in the garden. August got teary and drew this picture while singing about the dragonfly. Oh poor August you are going to be just like me feeling the weight of an ant's struggle and the love of a fly.

Autumn comes and I just want to walk everywhere, and smell everything and feel the crisp air and pass by houses with the smell of dinner and a fire and lights on and walk home where it is warm.

Lots of visitors today. It was a good day. Always happy to see new faces make new friends and to sit quietly and wait to see just who will play with whom.

My classroom. I was at school late tonight to meet with parents and I thought I'd share a picture.

Experimenting with layering.

I am starting something new I hope to share more soon.

Also a very sweet and generous friend is creating a website for me. I will share it as soon as it is ready. I am so excited.
