blue sky

I saw a tiny patch of blue in the sky today and am feeling hopeful. Here are a few more pages from my sketchbook. I am working in it a lot as I am teaching an artist sketchbook class right now. It is so inspiring to see the world that emerges within each students book. I love the honesty and sincerity of sketchbooks, to me they hold the truth.

  1. Oh, that first drawing is so sad! - she carries her little cloud with her, and while it rains, she sheds some tears as well ... Your drawings really speak to me ...

  2. that first one, like so many of your drawings, says so much without a word. i love that about your work. i couldn't do a thing without words; your pictures don't need any.

i thought of you today - when i went to pick up my daughter at camp, she and a few other girls had found four baby birds that had fallen out of their nest, struggling to survive. they were building little nests on the ground and bringing worms to the poor little things.

  4. I was just visiting Aimee, the piece about getting out of your own way, and she made me think of being conscious and unconscious at the same time. I think Your drawings are in that beautiful balance.
