A collaboration with August, a wonderful four and a half year old with an affinity for hair and drawing. I love the feeling in these drawings that things are what they are, not what they should be and they are certainly what they feel like as a working mother( I am certain it is the same for mothers who do not work out of the home). You try to have everything just so, but there is a wildness to life that cannot be tamed. Pretend we may, but it is there.

  5. Aris.... the painting! I, I, I, :)
I have to rearrange everything just so I can find the perfect spot for it.

  6. A great collaboration! When I first saw them I thought they depicted thoughts - wild thoughts and sometimes black thoughts and even a few very Well-controlled-and-Serious thoughts. Yes, life cannot be tamed to the letter, isn't that great?

  8. "There is a wildness to life that cannot be tamed." So very true. I love the wistful melancholy of the woman in the diamond patterned dress. And the hair looks wistful and sad, too. My mother is an artist, and as children we had many collaborations with her. They are still vivid memories.
